中学より同志社香里スキー部としてクロスカントリースキーを練習し、大阪府クロスカントリースキー選手権大会で毎年優勝。高校になってからは、クロスカントリースキー、コンバインドスキー競技の大阪大会および近畿大会で幾度となく優勝。この戦歴が認められた中央大学商学部へスポーツ特別推薦入学。トライアスロンには1987年2月15日の「第2回全日本雪上トライアスロン大会」に出場し優勝したのが初トライ。 1989年中央大学を卒業し、日本体育大学に編入学。1991年よりプロフェッショナル・トライアスリートとして活動を展開で、1992年4月日本体育大学大学院に入学し、運動処方学を学びつつ、競技では6年連続して世界選手権の日本代表として選考されるなど実績を積む。1992年から日本人としては初めてワールドカップシリーズで世界を転戦。その後1996年からはアイアンマン・シリーズを中心に活動を展開する。1999年より国内随一のアドベンチャーレーシングチーム「サロモン・イーストウインド」のメンバーとして世界各地のアドベンチャーレースに参加。トライアスロンとアドベンチャーレースの双方で数々の戦績を残す。

1990年代後半以降、選手活動だけではなく、これまでの実績を活かしテレビスポーツ番組のキャスターをはじめ、スポーツナビゲーターとしての活動を本格的に展開。CS放送「Jスポーツ」で放映されるスポーツニュース「スポーツ・マグナム」のキャスターとしてレギュラー出演、現在ではサイクルスポーツ中継やNHK-BS「ITUワールドカップトライアスロン」のメインナビゲーターとして出演している。 各地のトライアスロン大会、アドベンチャーレース大会のプランニングを手がけるほか、レースディレクター、コースディレクターとして、選手活動で培った知識、ノウハウを実際の形にすべく活動している。講演、セミナーなど多数実施。スポーツナビゲーターとしてマルチにプロフェッショナル活動を展開している。 また、2008年秋にはトライアスロンの普及、発展を目指して「株式会社アスロニア」を立ちあげ、「ショップ」、「スクール」、「イベント」、「ブランディング」などの事業を展開。
「Try! athlon!」を合言葉にこのスポーツを広めるべく疾走中！

I began cross-country skiing in Doshisha Kori Junior High School as a member of the ski club, and defended the Osaka Cross-Country Skiing Championship title. In high school, I got the victory many times in Osaka and Kinki championship of cross-country skiing and nordic combined skiing. With these performances, I entered Chuo University with special recommendation of sports. The first time I met triathlon was when I participated and grabbed the first prize in the All Japan 2nd on-the-snow Triathlon Competition, on February 15, 1987. I graduated from Chuo University in 1989, and enrolled in Nippon Sport Science University. My career as a professional Triathlete started since 1991. In April 1992, I entered the graduate school of Nippon Sport Science University. While studying Sports Prescription, I achieved my outstanding results such as being continuously selected as a representative of Japan of the World Championship for 6 years. I went all over the world as the first Japanese to participate in the World Cup series. Since 1996, I mainly took part in Ironman series. And from 1999, I participated in the Adventure Race held all over the world as a member of Salmon-EastWind, the best adventure racing team in Japan, and secured victory in both Triathlon and Adventure Races. After the late 1990s, not only as a triathlete, but I also began to work as a sports navigator including the caster of a sports program, taking advantage of the past actual results. Currently I am a regular caster of a sports news “ Sports Magnum” in “Jsky Sports” CS broadcast. While I deal with planning a Triathlon Race and Adventure Race all over Japan, I work as a race director or coordinator using my knowledge and know-how I gained as a triathlete. I give many lectures and seminars, and developing many professional activities centering on sports as a ‘Sports Navigator’. In addition, aiming toward the spread and development of the triathlon, I established “ATHLONIA Corp.” in 2008 Autumn, and developed the business of “triathlon shop”, “triathlon school”, “event management” and “branding” etc.
Under the key word of “Try!athlon!”, I keep running for triathlon!
